For the latter, the format is simple: Beven drops you off at a small island at 9 am, and you spend the day picnicking, snorkelling and relaxing until he picks you up at 5 pm.

Snorkelling gear is available to hire for the day (for a small fee), which you'll definitely need as the islands are home to some remarkable snorkelling spots, including giant clam sightings.

Bathrooms are available on the islands themselves, and guests are encouraged to bring their own food and supplies for the day.

One of the most affordable and easiest island day trips to organise from Majuro, the Eneko Island Day Trip takes you to a gorgeous island paradise for the day.

Just a 20-minute boat ride from Majuro, this conservation island sits in a stunning lagoon of aqua blues and greens, ringed by soft white sand.

Day trippers pay a reasonable fee, which includes round-trip boat transfers and the island entry fee, and are free to swim, snorkel on the lagoon side, barbecue, beachcomb and rinse off with the freshwater facilities on shore.

Snorkel gear is available to borrow (though limited to five sets, so first in, best dressed), and the lagoon-facing side of the island is the recommended spot to get in the water.

Do bring your own food and drinks, as there are no shops or cafés on the island, but there are bathrooms. Tickets and boat transfers are arranged through Hotel Robert Reimers. If you'd rather not leave, basic overnight accommodation is also available.

Bokanbotin Island started as a community picnic spot, and its roots as a day trip destination are still very much alive, making it a genuinely off-the-beaten-track escape from Majuro.

The centrepiece of any day visit is the "Bus Stop" gazebo, a waterfront gazebo named by the crew (no buses come out here, surprisingly). Positioned slightly apart from the main area for privacy, it's the perfect place to watch boats drift through the main channel while doing absolutely nothing, which, frankly, is the whole point.

Below the gazebo, you can snorkel directly off the coral drop to find four giant clams, believed to be the only ones in Majuro, in a protected conservation area. Smaller clams can also be spotted just off the top of the reef. Round it out with a walk along the "COVID Trail," a ten-minute loop built by the crew during lockdown when materials were scarce.

Snorkelling masks and fins are available on site, though it's better to bring your own since availability is limited. Do bring your own food and drinks though; there is no restaurant on the island yet, and the small emergency shop runs to little more than ramen noodles.
