We bet you've never clubbed on such a remote atoll! Majuro may not have a polished nightlife district, but Friday and Saturday nights can become surprisingly lively. Clubs often open from around 7 pm, although the dance floors usually start filling closer to 10 pm, and the party can continue until approximately 2 am.

For the most visitor-friendly night out, start at Jittak Likatu Bar & Grill, where weekend karaoke often gives way to live bands and dancing. The mixed crowd, on-site security and lagoonfront setting make it a comfortable introduction to Majuro after dark.

Travellers looking for something louder and more local can try Marshall Islands Club, while The Flame Tree in Delap offers karaoke, affordable drinks and energetic weekend nights. Both can feel rowdier than Jittak, so go with friends, keep an eye on your drink and arrange your taxi before the entire dance floor attempts to leave at once.

Ease into the evening with a cold drink and a view across the Majuro Lagoon. The capital has several relaxed waterfront bars where you can watch the sky change colour without committing to a full night of karaoke and questionable dance moves.

For elevated harbour views, head to Toeak Bar & Grill, perched on the top floor of Majuro’s tallest building in Uliga. Alternatively, Dockside Bar at the Marshall Islands Resort sits beside the marina, with boats, lagoon views and the occasional sea breeze setting the scene.

Few things compare to watching the sun set over the atolls of the Marshall Islands. Find the right stretch of shoreline and you can see it dip cleanly behind the ocean, with nothing interrupting the horizon but the occasional passing boat.

For something a little more dramatic, the shipwreck near Marshall Islands High School on Majuro makes a brilliant foreground for sunset photos. Its jagged silhouette adds just enough character without stealing the show.

With clouds constantly drifting across the atolls, every evening brings a different combination of colours, from soft pinks and purples to fiery oranges that look suspiciously edited. There is not really a bad place to watch the sunset in the Marshall Islands, just better timing and fewer power lines.

Hang Loose runs a laid-back "Sunset Cruise" around the lagoon, departing flexibly at around 4:00–4:30 pm depending on when you are ready.

It's less of a structured tour and more of a social occasion on the water; the captain keeps things responsible while guests kick back and watch the sun dip below the horizon.

What makes it worth lingering over is the optional island-hopping add-on, where the cruise extends into a picnic-style adventure across the atoll. The crew assesses each person before agreeing to take them out, so this is firmly one for confident, experienced divers rather than a spontaneous first attempt after dinner.

When the sun goes down, Majuro’s dining scene offers an easygoing mix of island flavours, Asian influences and familiar comfort food, usually served with generous portions and none of the fuss.

Time your visit right and one of the best things to do after dark in the Marshall Islands is simply to join whatever celebration is taking over the evening. Major events often spill well beyond sunset, with live music, dancing, food stalls and the sort of community atmosphere that turns “just having a look” into staying far later than planned.

On Majuro, the New Year’s Eve Block Party is the biggest example, usually beginning from 6 pm and filling downtown Uliga with performances, local food, carnival rides and family-friendly entertainment.

For serious stargazing, Majuro is not the Marshall Islands at its best. City lights wash out much of the night sky, and even from a private-island stay opposite town, the twinkling lights across the lagoon can be more noticeable than the stars above.

Head to the outer atolls, however, and it is a completely different story. With almost no light pollution, a clear night can reveal an impressive sweep of stars stretching from one horizon to the other.

The only catch is the weather. The Marshall Islands is cloudy for much of the year, with overcast or mostly cloudy skies averaging around 75% to 85% of the time. October and November are generally the cloudiest months, while March usually offers the best chance of clearer conditions, although even then the sky is clear, mostly clear or partly cloudy only around 23% of the time.

In other words, do not plan your entire trip around one perfect starry night. Keep an eye on the sky, switch off any nearby lights and take advantage when the clouds finally behave themselves.
